                                         Smoothies



Fruit is best eaten on an empty stomach so it can be digested easily and fast , passing through the system without it fermenting ( that is what happens when you eat fruits with foods more complex to digest).

One very healthy way of taking in different kind of fruits is smoothie making. There are blender--like home appliances for making smoothie. Example.......

Smoothie is just blending fruits together till they become kinda creamy. With the right combination of fruits you will feel full and get the maximum nutrients.

 For the purpose of weight loss and healthy lifestyle we should make smoothies and natural juices a staple part of our diet.

It is also a good way of getting young children to consume fruits and juices of vegetables in a fun and delicious way.

   
Some of the fruits very good for weight loss are but not limited to:

 1. Bananas are very good for weight loss if eaten in the right portion. They have a good supply of starchy carbs that will keep u full longer.

2. Watermelon is rich in lycopene which is a powerful antioxidant (disease fighting compounds) that also protects the prostate and protects against cardiovascular diseases. It can also be found in tomatoes.

 3.Apples ....It has been said that an Apple a day keeps the doctor away......This fruit is loaded with so much benefit......It has anti carcinogenic properties, detoxifies the liver, boosts the immune system etc.

4. Berries are one of the wonders of nature....the best sources of antioxidants....we need these compounds to fight oxidation in our bodies caused by free radicals that can lead to serious illnesses. They also help protect your skin and hair.


                                     RECIPE


  • 1 1/2 cup of ripe water melon deseeded
  • 1 medium sized ripe banana
  •  1 medium green Apple
  • 1 cup of black berries or blue berries.        
    OR  
    
     Add it all into the smoothie maker with the watermelon at the base. Blend it together......NOTE....There is no need to add water as the watermelon is juicy enough.
