Super foods Breakfast ideas..........1


Having run through some of our common breakfast foods in naija.....It is time to closely look at healthier options ..........




FLAXSEEDS ......Is an amazing source of fiber, protein and omega 3 fatty acids (the heart friendly oil) in a quantity unrivalled by any other plant source. ......... It  can keep you feeling full for longer periods because of its high fiber content.

              There are two main types.....


The Yellow seeds and.........

 
The Brown seeds

                 These seeds will be available in Nigeria....because we have a thriving expatriate community; just check stores that cater for them. Some examples in Lagos are park n shop, goodies, shoprite etc.

          Buy the whole seeds as they go rancid (bad) easily....It is advisable to blend the little you need before use(in a spice grinder.....the small cup of your blender )

NOTE THAT IF YOU EAT IT WHOLE IT WILL PASS THROUGH YOUR SYSTEM THE SAME WAY IT WENT IN TAKING WITH IT ALL ITS NUTRIENTS INTACT= our system cannot digest it whole, so ; blend it.

         Food IDEAS


  • Add milled flaxseed to OATS and sweeten with natural wild honey....Eat with skimmed milk or any plant sourced milk of your choice. This is a good choice for breakfast as it will keep you full longer and you still have all the health benefits.     Remember portion control...#wink#

  •         Add milled flaxseed to smoothie .....

  •       Add milled flaxseed to your breadmaker with the flour and other ingredients to make healthier loaves.
      On a lighter note......I survived yesterday without eating the chocolate cake...lol.
