Researchers observed that Eskimos whose main diet is oily fish have fewer heart attacks and strokes than average...... Dieticians generally recommend we eat at least 2 portions of fish a week and 1 of which should be oily fish.
For the purpose of weight loss and healthy eating , fish is a good and filling food choice that will deliver body building and tissue repairing protein.
The recognized best fish to eat as per nutritional value are these oily fish which are best eaten STEAMED...
SALMON:
If you do not have a steamer....try improvising by putting a sieve (preferably aluminium or stainless ) in a pot that has water and cover so that as the water boils the steam will cook the fish which you should put in the sieve.
Mackerel aka TITUS:
Remember Steaming is best NOT boiling , cooking or frying....
SARDINES aka 'SAWA':
A lot of people avoid this fish because it has a lot of tiny bones......find a way around the bones ooo because this is CHEAP healthy goodness .....#wink#....
There are a list of other healthy oily fish but I will stop here as these are the ones that are readily available even in Nigeria....So instead of frying Croaker or Tilapia for your fish stew every time; find a way to throw these 3 choices in the mix. It will not only give you variety but also plenty of healthy goodness.
